Industry News /6 Comments

The concept-like styling of this Spanish EV is sure to draw quite a crowd.

Spanish automaker Hispano Suiza is serious about establishing a niche for its extreme hypercars in the United States, and therevitalized companyhas announced that it will be bringing its Carmen Boulogne model to the Monterey Car Week later this month. Debuting at The Quail, Hispano Suiza's dramatic hypercar will no doubt draw substantial interest from the 100,000 or so attendees at this event.

The Carmen Boulogne is the more exclusive and powerful version of the Carmen. Developing up to 1,100 horsepower from a quartet of electric motors, the model appearing in Monterey is one of only five that will be produced. Finished in Boulogne Black with copper accents, this isn't even thewildest Hispano Suizawe've seen.

Demure black paint or not, the car still has an outrageous appearance. Its rounded body with exaggerated fenders makes many concept cars look ordinary. Copper accents on the grille, window surrounds, and mirror caps have been applied to this unit, which also has the Hispano Suiza name brandished across the grille in big, bold letters.

"The United States is a strategic market for us," said Sergio Martinez Campos, CEO of Hispano Suiza. "For this reason, the Monterey Car Week has already become a key fixture in our calendar of events, especially The Quail. This year, as sponsors of the event, we have strengthened our presence here to offer our clients a unique Hispano Suiza experience."

As part of Monterey Car Week, Hispano Suiza will also sponsor a dinner conference by the Petersen Museum titledFrom Race to Road。标题是合适的,因为Carmen Boulogne is a tribute to the company's wins in the Georges Boillot Cup Race, held close to the French town of Boulogne.

Last year, the first Hispano Suiza Carmen Boulogne arrived in America in a purple hue called Ocean Song Rose, inspired by the owner's favorite flower. Customers can expectthis level of customizationand exclusivity from a car in this league.

The Carmen Boulogne is capable of a 0-62 mph time of around 2.6 seconds and a claimed range of approximately 248 miles. The interior is covered in high-end materials and has exquisite details like a beautiful analog clock.

Reportedly carrying a price tag of about $1.8 million, the Carmen Boulogne isn't far off highly limited exotics like theBentley Bacalar, but that has an internal combustion engine. It's far more expensive than the electricRolls-Royce Spectre, but then again, the Carmen Boulogne is not a car meant to be compared with anything else. It's a piece of automotive art that will likely spend more time on display than on the road.

Visitors to the Monterey Car Week in California will be able to see the Carmen Boulogne on display from August 14 to 20.
