Porsche is no stranger to excellence, so it's no wonder that the brand isamong the most appealing in America, but while the automaker moves towards electrification while also exploring ways ofkeeping internal combustion alive, it's also keeping a close eye on the past.

有计谋ntless classics in the German brand's history, many of which often fall to ruin due to neglect. Fortunately, many of these are finding a new life through thePorsche Classic Restoration Challenge. Basically, this is a contest between Porsche dealers across America, with each vying to present the most gorgeous classic Porsche restoration. The three finalists in the competition were evaluated and inspected during the Sportscar Together Fest hosted by Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) from September 10-12. On this occasion, judging was handled by PCNA's vice president, its vice president of aftersales, and its manager of technical support, with these judges focusing on the same criteria as panels in the rest of the country: "authenticity, craftsmanship and, most importantly, a smooth-running engine."

The winner ended up being an RS-inspired build from Porsche Ontario, and this 1989Porsche 911 Targais simply immaculate. With details like a two-tone interior and a 3.2-liter Carrera engine, it really is something special.

"Everything from the 3.2-liter engine and two-tone interior, down to the documentation, was immaculately done by Porsche Ontario," says Porsche Classic manager Jonathan Sieber. "Your eye is drawn to the Targa by the red lettering and Fuchs wheels, but it's the amount of detail and attention the team put into every step of the process that gave it an extra edge in the competition. Porsche Ontario produced a restoration that captures Porsche passion."

Porsche says that the US is home to more classic Porsche sports cars than any other market on the planet, so it's a great place to encourage keeping old Porkers alive. In 50 years' time when our grand kids ask us about the finest cars we ever saw, we can show them classic Porsches.
