OFFICIAL: Bentley Delays 1,400-HP All-Electric Model

Bentley has made some bold claims for its upcoming electric car. It will reportedly produce 1,400 horsepower andaccelerate to 60 mph incredibly quickly(in around 1.5 seconds). It should make occupants sick with that kind of acceleration. We are extremely excited to see the Bentley EV reach production, but according toAutomotive News, we'll have to wait a bit longer. Bentley has pushed back production of its first EV by a whole year; it will now arrive in 2026.

Though it won't be produced until the following year, the reveal pushback is less of a hit. The delay will be a "matter of months," said Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark. This means we will still see the car, which is rumored to be a big coupe, sometime in 2025 before it hits the roads the following year.

Hallmark did not give any specific reasons for the delay, but says it was not related to the issues that have plagued its parent Volkswagen Group's software division, Cariad. Porsche has already confirmed that software delays havepushed back its Macan EV, and other brands from the VW Group,including Audi, were also said to be affected. The hardware is reportedly ready for these cars, but the software is holding them back. "We are right in the middle of that process, which is demanding because we have to do pre-development work that we never did with previous programs," Hallmark said.
