GM CEO Mary Barra has confirmed a replacement model is on the way.

In the company's quarterly earnings conference call,GM CEO Mary Barraconfirmed that Chevrolet will introduce an all-newBolt. When the vehicle will be unveiled is unknown, but the CEO said customers can expect it soon.

"We will keep the momentum going by delivering a new Bolt," said the chief executive, adding, "and we will execute it more quickly compared to an all-new program with significantly lower engineering expense and capital investment by updating the vehicle with Ultium and Ultifi technologies and by applying our 'winning with simplicity' discipline."

通过使用通用的Ultium和Ultifi的技术gy, the automaker will be able to fast-track the development of the next-gen Bolt and bring it to customers as quickly as possible. The company will provide more details regarding the new EV shortly.

Barra previously alluded to the Bolt returning withthe latest Ultium technology.

As per the automaker, the new generation will pick up where the outgoing model left off and deliver the best technology, competitive range figures, and, importantly, "great affordability."

When it arrives, it will be one of several new EVs from the General Motors stable. In addition to the new Hummer EV, Cadillac Celestiq, and Lyriq, the brand intends to launch the new Silverado EV, Blazer EV, and Equinox EV later this year.

"Our customers love today's Bolt. It has been delivering record sales and some of the highest customer satisfaction and loyalty scores in the industry," remarked Barra. "It's also an important source of conquest sales for the company and for Chevrolet."

Even though it hit the market as far back as 2017, sales of the Bolt EV and its EUV sibling reached their highest point in the first half of 2023. This shows strong demand for affordable electric vehicles, particularly those with impressive range figures.

Chevy's Bolt has shaken off its unflattering, battery-fire-related image to become a genuinely appealingsmall EV. Data from Chevrolet shows that 80% of Bolt buyers have stayed with the Chevrolet brand, and 70% of Bolt owners were first-time GM buyers, which means it's doing something right. We expect the new model to offer everything customers love and more.

The current Bolt will be retiredat the end of this year, along with the larger EUV. "It's just a natural progression, natural next step for us," said Chevrolet CMO Steve Majoros. "We're joining the Ultium party. Bolt has been a phenomenal product for us, no doubt. It's done great things for Chevy, GM, dealers, [and] customers."

While current Bolt owners may move onto a Blazer EV or Equinox EV, Chevy can capture even more first-time EV buyers, especially if pricing is kept low. The 2023 model retails for $26,500 before any incentives and delivery fees are added.
