Teaser /5 Comments

The wait for Ram's Hellcat-powered pickup is nearly over.

The hardcore Ram TRX has been a long time coming. Ram's answer to theFord F-150 Raptorwas previewed back in 2016 with the unveiling of the hardcoreRam Rebel TRX Concept. Four years later, the production version is about to be unleashed. Rumors have been rife that Ram will reveal its new Ford Raptor rival soon, but now we finally have official confirmation.

In a new teaser video posted on the automaker's Facebook page, Ram has announced the long-awaited TRX will debut this summer. We don't have a specific date yet, sadly, but we clearly don't have long to wait. The reveal will be later than planned, as Ram was originally going to debut at the TRX at the Detroit Auto Show this month, but theevent was canceled.

We don't get to see the 2021 Ram TRX as the truck is obscured by a massive cloud of dust while driving in the desert, but we can hear the unmistakable sound of its roaring Hellcat V8.Leaked VIN platessuggest the 2021 Ram TRX will be powered by the same supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi found under the hood of theDodge Challenger SRT Hellcatmuscle car andJeep Grand Cherokee TrackhawkSUV.

While the Ram Rebel TRX concept had 575 horsepower, the production version is expected to have over 700 horsepower just like its other Hellcat-powered siblings.

For comparison, the Ford F-150 Raptor packs a twin-turbo V6 with 450 horsepower, so the 2021 Ram TRX will easily outperform its main rival. Ram is fully aware of this, as aneaster eggwas recently discovered inside the TRX showing a T-Rex towering over a tiny velociraptor, making the Ram TRX's power advantage over the F-150 Raptor abundantly clear. Exterior modifications such as a wider track, flared fenders, and a massive hood scoop will make the Ram TRX look a lot more aggressive than the standard Ram.

The video also suggests Ram's Ford Raptor fighter will drop the Rebel name and simply be called the 'Ram TRX,' but we'll have to wait until more details are revealed this summer to find out.
