Affalterbach's high-horsepower luxury SUV should arrive very soon.
Despite being redesigned for the 2020 model year, Mercedes-Benz has opted to refresh theGLE SUVas it aims toget closer to its fiercest rival，the BMW X5. We've seen the luxury SUV dressed in light camouflage over the course of last year as Mercedes engineers evaluated their updates to the vehicle. We've alsosnuck a peek at the cabin，which looks better than ever, but thus far, we haven't seen the AMG version out and about. That changed today as our latest images show the high-performance model wearing next to nothing in the way of disguising vinyl.
So what's new? Well, besides that which is hidden by camouflage, nothing. It appears that Mercedes will stick with the bumper design that you see here, with only the headlights and taillights set to get any aesthetic changes as far as the exterior design is concerned.
The quad pipes confirm that this is the enhancedMercedes-AMG GLE 63，but its traditional fender badges are not present on this development vehicle. Center caps are also missing from the wheels and the front badge is obscured, but other than that, this looks like it could be ready to head to a dealership.
On the inside, we can see a new double three-spoke steering wheel design that is expected to be featured in the upcoming C-Class, but again, nothing much else appears to have changed. That's not a problem though, as the GLE already had one of the finest cabins in the SUV game. We'll get to see just what else has changed, including those headlights and taillights, sometime this year as the GLE is expected to launch in 2022 as a 2023 model.
Performance is unlikely to get a boost, but again, what we already have is more than enough: a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 produces 603 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds. We'll report back if we come across any new information.
