Lego has released a new set under its "Icons" line. Consisting of 1,210 pieces, the new 10321 Chevrolet Corvette C1 set faithfully recreates the classic car in celebration of its 70th anniversary.

Now Lego car models are naturally blocky, so theLand Rover Defender 90 setfrom the Swedish toymaker is a fitting representation of its real-life counterpart. The toymaker, however, did a fantastic job on this particular set as it manages to get the C1's contours right without using too many pieces like the ludicrous but awe-inspiringlife-size Lego buildsof the Ferrari Monza and the Kia EV6.

Smooth lines are particularly noticeable on the Lego Corvette C1's downwards-curving rear end, while its hood portion gradually sweeps down between its quad headlamps. Speaking of which, the one represented in Lego form is the C1 model launched in 1958. Earlier C1s from the 1956 to 1957 model years sported two headlamps.

While it's only available in red, the new Lego Corvette C1 has plenty of thing going for it that collectors and those who are kids at heart will love. It sports a removable hardtop, functional steering, and a hood that can be opened or closed. Hiding underneath the hood is a tiny version of Chevy's small-block V8 complete with a radiator fan that you can spin.

Regardless of being a tiny Lego version, this might be the only way for some folks to experience the post word war II ancestor of the modern-dayChevy Corvette C8. After all, examples of these classic cars are getting quite rare, so you'll either need tons of dough to buy one or the mechanical skills and tools for a fixer-upper.

Remember whenGas Monkey Garagehosted theRichard Rawlings car collection auctionin 2022? Two C1 Corvettes were sold for $32,250 and $60,000 respectively. The "cheaper" one was a rolling chassis, while the more expensive one was a 1962 model with a 327 cubic inch V8.

The Lego Corvette C1 kit retails at $150 - a fair price considering what Lego achieved. But note that sales for this won't begin until August 1, 2023.
