New Bolt-On Supercharger Kit Made For C8 Corvette Stingray

No body modifications are required.

The 2023Chevrolet Corvette Z06recently made its debut, and it's an absolute stunner. Chevy gave it a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated flat-plane crank V8 that delivers 670 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. More importantly, it revs to 8,600 rpm, finally elevating the Stingray to proper supercar status.

Oddly, it's not the most powerful Corvette ever, though the1,000-hp Zora is rumored to arrive in 2025.

If you want more power from your standard C8Corvette Stingray, there's always a way to fiddle and fine-tune. Procharger Superchargersdeveloped a bolt-on supercharger kitfor the standard 6.2-liter V8, but even though it was pretty easy to fit, it never really caught on. As for positive displacement blowers, you can forget it. There's just no space. But what if there is?

Due to the C8's new mid-engine layout, turbocharging is a more viable route, if only for packaging reasons. Using twin-turbocharging, owners have been able to get up to1,200 hp out of the 6.2-liter V8.

Boost Direct has now managed to do the impossible, developing a positive displacement Eaton TVS R2650 supercharging kit for the standard C8. As an homage to the most powerful Corvette to date, the supercharger comes with LT5 lettering.

LT5 was the internal code for the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 used in theCorvette C7 ZR1. It was the ultimate version of the front-engined Corvette with 755 hp and 715 lb-ft of torque. Is that what Boost Direct was aiming for? The ZR1 was also proof that the Corvette needed to move over to a mid-engine layout because it just couldn't put all that power down properly.

Boost Direct uses the Eaton TVS R2650 rotor pack for reliability and because it requires no additional maintenance from the OEM. The machined housing leaves enough room for the necessary airflow, and the bolt-on kit requires no modifications to the body. Fueltech provides the plug-and-play ECU control unit. Boost District has more plans for the future, including a supercharger kit for theconvertible.

Sadly, the tuner did not provide the power increase related to this kit, nor pricing. We do know that the car still runs a stock long block and stock clutch. This particular Corvette 'prototype', if you will, is to be on display at SEMA next week, where Boost Direct will likely make these performance and pricing details available.
