Museum-Quality American Muscle Cars Head To Auction

Domestic automakers are building some amazing cars at the moment. From the pluckyFord Broncoto the exhilaratingCorvette C8, there's something for everyone to choose from. As good as they are, both pale in comparison to America's golden era of the '50s and '60s. Back then, there wasn't a dull crossover to be seen; muscle cars and outlandish design ruled the roost.

Several icons of this period will soon be made available for sale, as they roar off to auction at Barrett-Jackson's Palm Beach event between April 7-9, 2022. Among the American beauties is a matching-numbers 1968 ChevroletYenko Super Camaro, offered at no reserve. The 450-horsepower muscle car boasts a four-speed manual transmission and comes out of the legendary American Muscle Car Museum Collection. The recipient of a full restoration, we're guessing this very special Camaro will fetch big money.

But if outright performance isn't your thing, a handful of stylish boulevard bruisers are also heading to the auction block. Finished in a beautiful shade called Indian Turquoise, this Ford Fairlane 500 Galaxie Skyliner, like the Camaro above, is also a numbers matching car out of the same collection. Known as the first car in the world to feature an automatic retractable hardtop roof, it's a great piece of history for any collector of American automotive history.

Rival brand Chevrolet also knew a thing or two about beautiful convertibles. Two examples, a 1955 Bel Air and 1958 Impala, will also be made available. The '55 Bel Air is painted in Gypsy Red and features over 35 factory options, including power seats and windows. The Rio Red Impala, with its 315-hp engine and Powerglide automatic transmission, has factory air-conditioning and was restored to like-new condition. Both will be sold with no reserve.
