Mercedes Puts G-Class In Giant Red Pill For New Matrix Movie

We recently reported onHyundai's Ioniq 5featuring in thebrand-new Spider-Man movie, even though we could not remember seeing it in there. We've since watched it again and can confirm that it is indeed part of the movie, but not in a cringey and product placement kind of way.

The next big movie this year is The Matrix Resurrections, and it too has a hero car. It makes sense, as the previous Matrix movies had some amazing car scenes. The Wachowskis spent $2.5 million building a piece of a freeway on a decommissioned naval base for The Matrix Reloaded. Back then, the Wachowskis did a deal with Cadillac, who provided all the cars smashed up in that now-famous sequence.

Now it's the Mercedes G-Class' turn to enter the Matrix.

This time, Mercedes-Benz provided a few G550s. And it seems like this expensive SUV will be less well-integrated, as it plays a pivotal role in the movie. But hey, if you're going to create a path for Neo and Trinity to escape, what better way to do it than with a G-Class?

Careful not to spoil the plot, Mercedes mentions that rebels drive theG550, and we assume they're the good guys. Mercedes also celebrated the premiere of The Matrix Resurrections by placing a G550 in a giant red pill outside the venue.
