The Silver Arrow is hitting the waves at the Monaco Yacht Show with a new 45-foot powerboat project.

虽然这个品牌可能会认识更好的汽车and trucks, Mercedes-Benz actually has a long history on the water that dates back to one of the first motorized boats which Gottlieb Daimler sailed up the River Neckar in Germany over 125 years ago. Bookending that legacy, the German automaker recently teamed up with Cigarette to produce a special-edition AMG speedboat, and has now released plans and initial renderings of a new motor yacht project soon to be launched.

A joint effort between the Mercedes-Benz Style studio and recently-launched Silver Arrows Marine, the 14-meter Granturismo Yacht will be unveiled at the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show. The vessel will be built in the UK by some of the biggest names in the business, hitting the waves sometime next year. Expect the finished product to reflect Daimler's advancements in automotive design with a cabin benefitting from the German automaker's typically polished approach. The project follows similar maritime forays undertaken by Lancia, Porsche Design and Audi, to name just a few.

"Giving shape to a boat was an exciting challenge for automotive designers like us," said Mercedes design chief Gorden Wagener. "Our task was to explore how to apply the Mercedes-Benz design language to the particular proportions and specific requirements of a boat."
