Mercedes-AMG's Newest Vehicle Only Has 2 Wheels

Sir Lewis Hamilton's new weekend ride has arrived.

Mercedes-AMG has revealed its latest model, boasting two wheels and a power-to-weight ratio of less than 95 horsepower per ton. Meet the Mercedes-AMG E-Scooter, created with the Swiss company Micro Mobility Systems. It's another step in Mercedes' plan to become asustainable mobility company. It's the perfect item in the company's eyes to get a driver over the "last mile" to their destination in an emissions-free way.

Mercedes isn't the first to come up with this idea; over the past few years, companies like Toyota, BMW, and Polestar have all jumped on the micromobility game with things like compact scootersthat take up less roomand impressively simple mopeds thatmatch your future electric sports car. Mercedes's approach is more mainstream but still enters a crowded playing field with a competitive product.

The scooter employs a 500-watt electric motor that pulls power from a 450 Wh battery. In tandem, this means the scooter is good for a top speed of 12 mph with a range of 24 miles in Eco mode or 15 miles in Sport mode. Charging takes anywhere from 2.1-3.5 hours, depending on the charger you're working with. It also comes with a display to convey battery levels, speed, and driving modes, as well as stylish looks the way only Mercedes knows how to do them.

The deck of the scooter is wide and features an anti-slip coating with AMG rhombi that add to the footboard's appearance. It features adjustable suspension front and rear, along with a telescoping handlebar that allows for a comfortable ride posture no matter the rider's height.

The AMG logo is painted on the handlebars next to the integrated bell, and the Mercedes logo can be found right underneath the front headlight. Braking is either taken care of by the electric motor or a manual pedal brake, and a simple twist of the wrist can also employ regenerative braking to help put a little more range back into your battery.

Finally, an integrated Micro App lets users connect their phones to their scooters through Bluetooth. It can then be attached to the handlebars with a special holder and can double as a display and offer more info like journey time and more control over the lights and driving modes.

Mercedes wants the scooter to be a companion, one that you pull out of yourMerecedes-AMG EQEsedan thanks to its lightweight, 32-lb design and take the final leg to your office, coffee, the park, or wherever. Pricing hasn't been announced but don't be surprised when it's more expensive than you want it to be.
