Mercedes-AMG GLS63 Gets Extreme Carbon-Fiber Makeover

Tuning /6 Comments

If the standard model looks too restrained for you, Larte Design has a solution.

With its wide Panamericana grille, massive air intakes, and flared fenders housing wheels up to 23 inches in size, theMercedes-AMG GLS63is already one mean-looking SUV in stock form. If, however, the AMG GLS63 still looks too restrained for you,Larte Designhas revealed a new "Winner" body kit that adds copious amounts of carbon fiber to make AMG's flagship SUV look even more menacing.

At the front, Larte's body kit adds a prominent splitter, while carbon-fiber accents replace the standard chrome accents on the front air intakes for a more imposing look.

Elsewhere, carbon fiber is also applied to the custom hood and side mirror caps. As if the AMG GLS63 didn't already have plenty of presence, the fenders have been extended and feature integrated inlets, complemented with body-colored side sills with steps. At the back, the AMG GLS63 is upgraded with a faux diffuser and a larger rear spoiler.

Rounding off the exterior upgrades are a set of 23-inch wheels wrapped in 295/35/ZR23 performance tires. Alternatively, these can be upgraded with larger 24-inch wheels. Since the upgrade is purely cosmetic, no performance modifications were made under the hood, but then the AMG GLS63 is no slouch in the performance department.

Under the hood, the AMG GLS63 packs a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 producing a monstrous 603 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. All that power is sent to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic, enabling the large luxury SUV to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.1 seconds. Larte's lightweight carbon-fiber components may have shaved a few tenths of a second off the sprint time. If you want more power, there are plenty of other aftermarket tuners that can give the SUV a performance boost: Wheelsandmore, for example, canturn your AMG GLS63 into a 920-hp beast.

Larte hasn't announced any pricing details for the Winner body kit, but the AMG GLS63 donor SUV will set you back $132,100.
