Mopar has unveiled something funny at SEMA. We're not laughing.

One of the most extreme creations unveiled this week in SEMA, meet the 2015 Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car created by Mopar, Dodge and Don Schumacher Racing. Presented by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, it sports red and black Mopar livery, front and rear styling inspired by the roadgoing Charger, side scallops that look the part while improving body rigidity, and is the first rethink of the car since it was introduced back in 2006. The redesigned body uses Kevlar and carbon to increase strength and durability while keeping weight to a minimum.

Driver visibility has been significantly improved thanks to moving the cockpit further back. Engine clearance has also increased as a result of that design change, as has downforce when the car hits over 300 mph - something it will do on a regular basis in competition. The new Funny Car will do well to match its predecessor, which has won 68 national titles, 2 NHRA Funny Car World Championships, and was the first car to hit a sub-four-second quarter-mile. That's what happens when you combine 10,000 horsepower with a 2,400-pound curb weight. The 2015 Charger R/T Funny Car will make its competitive debut next February at the 2015 Winternationals in Pomona, California.
