Matthew McConaughey Finally Made A Lincoln Continental Commercial

And yes, it's just as Matthew McConaughey-y as you'd think.

We have a semi-legitimate fear that if Mathew McConaughey makes one more Lincoln commercial, he'll become a parody of himself that basks in his cool calm attitude emitting low whistles, adjusting his jacket, and playing with a Lincoln's knobs until the cameras leave and it comes time to spark a joint in the back seat. Well, that seems to be exactly what's happened (minus the joint), except this time around McConaughey is using his persona to sell Lincoln's hottest new car, the Continental.

Built with the Chinese market in mind, the Continental is Lincoln's largest and most luxurious car on sale. It goes against the likes of the Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7 Series, and Cadillac CT6 by emphasizing the back seat and by adding swaths of leg room.

Given that buyers are already familiar with the Lincoln brand, the automaker wanted to emphasize the car's beauty that's mirrored quite literally by the beautiful surroundings instead of just an anonymous city and a lonely road that's typical of past Lincoln commercials. To do so, it flew the Continental and McConaughey to a glacial plain in Iceland to get the walking/driving on water effect we see in the commercial. Parody or not, there's no denying that McConaughey's personality is the only one that can accurately portray the laid-back but old fashioned character that Lincoln brings to the auto market.
