Lucid has teased its new Tesla Model X rival, but these spy shots give us a much clearer look at the sleek electric SUV.

Electric startup Lucid presented the long-awaitedAir electric sedanthis week, but this will be the first of several EVs the company plans to launch during the next decade. During the online reveal event, Lucid confirmed its second modelwill be an electric SUVthat will take on theTesla Model X. Currently named Project Gravity, the electric SUV will launch in the next couple of years. While Lucid has shared some shadowy teaser photos of the Gravity, a prototype was recently caught in the wild, giving us a clearer look at Lucid's new Tesla Model X rival.

Photos shared by the Lucid Owners forum show a prototype of the Gravity being tested alongside the Air completely undisguised.

According to the forum, both models were posing for a photoshoot. The California Highway Patrol blocked the road, but they couldn't stop an eagle-eyed enthusiast from snapping some photos with their iPhone.

With its slim headlights, a full-width rear light bar, a two-tone finish, flush doors, aero wheels, and a panoramic glass roof, the Gravity is already shaping up to be a sleek-looking SUV. Judging from the proportions, the Gravity looks like it will have an extremely spacious cabin like the Air and have room for up to seven occupants. Details are still scarce, but Lucid has confirmed the Gravity SUV will share the same platform as the Air sedan. Thanks to its dual-motor setup, the Air produces up to 1,080 horsepower and can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 2.5 seconds.

With its 113-kilowatt-hour battery, the electric sedan can travel up to 517 miles on a single charge. Using a DC Fast Charging network, the battery can be charged at 20 miles per minute, adding 300 miles of range in just 20 minutes.

We'll have to wait and see how the Gravity's extra weight and size affects the performance and aerodynamics, but it certainly has the potential to beat the Tesla Model X Performance in a drag race since the Air smashed Tesla's record quarter-mile record time set by the Model S Performance. Pricing for the Lucid Air starts at under $80,000, so expect the Gravity to have a higher price tag.
