Dodge Demon 170 Kit Coming As Retrofit Option For Other Hellcat Models

Leaked /1 Comment

It consists of an extensive parts list that requires 20 hours of installation.

Dodge's official aftermarket parts department Direct Connection, plans to build a kit that will give the Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye models roughly the same amount of muscle as theDodge Challenger SRT Demon 170.

Various Hellcat forum users first spotted the parts list, which allegedly leaked on the official Direct Connection website (screenshots below). The kit in question goes by the name of DC170; in a nutshell, it involves quite an extensive bundle that promises to bump the Redeye's stock 797 horsepower output to 1,000 hp.

While Dodge's last hurrah for the V8 Challenger hasmostly escaped dealer markups, some might still find its $96,666 manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) too expensive. There's also the fact that only 3,000 Demon 170s will be sold in the US market. As such, the DC170 kit might be a viable alternative to getting the bonkers muscle car.

Unfortunately, any signs of the disclosed parts list have already been taken down from the Direct Connection website. TheDodge community forums, however, have managed to create threads listing down every single one of its components first. According to the info gathered by the forum users, the "stage 3" DC170 is compatible with 2019 Redeye models or newer.

The package then consists of many stages, including a performance air filter and thermostat stage 1 kit and the stage 2 kit consisting of a pulley from theuber-powerful Hellephant V8. Stage 3 then adds more parts like a set of CNC-machined cylinder heads, an e85 capable fuel pump, 1,300cc injectors, new gaskets, new headers, colder spark plugs, etc. All of these will take an installation time of 20 hours.

If the leaked kit gets released, it will only be sold via Dodge Power Broker dealerships. As hinted at by the reactions in the Dodge community forums, that opens a whole can of worms connected to high dealership labor costs concerning the parts installation and potentialdealership markupsfor the equipment.

The DC170 kit's price was not revealed, but it's expected to be expensive considering its ample number of components. For now, though, let's wait for more updates about the DC170 kit from Dodge. The question now is - do you think this will be worth it, or is it bordering on ridiculous?
