James May Plays Around in the Bugatti SuperSport

Top Gear's James May drove the Bugatti SuperSport and had a great time doing it.

Top Gear's James May wears the nickname 'Captain Slow' like a badge of honor. The good captain was anything but when he took the Bugatti Veyron SuperSport for a then world production car record 417km/h (259mph) on the Volkswagen Group's private Ehra-Lessien test track in Germany all the way back in November of 2006. He celebrated his world record with a jolly little jig even though he knew that professional driver Pierre Henri Raphanel was waiting in the wings to break his record.

Raphanel ran the Veyron SuperSport in both directions and claimed the top speed record for a production car with 431km/h (268mph). Top Gear has just released a clip showing the outtakes from May's record day in the Bugatti Veyron SuperSport. It's been nearly 6 years since Captain Slow went fast, so feel free to reminisce and enjoy the outtakes.
