Hummer EV Is Targeting Jeep With This New Feature

Today was when GMC was originally going to present the all-new electricHummertruck to the world as a rival to theTesla Cybertruck, electricFord F-150, andRivian R1T. As we suspected, however, the coronavirus pandemicdelayed these planssince GM was forced to close its production facilities. While the electric GMC Hummer is still on track to go on sale in fall 2021 as planned, the reveal event has been delayed indefinitely. A teaser video released by GMC last month seemed to show the reborn Hummer sporting a glass roof, seemingly confirming rumors it will have removable roof panels.

Now, GMC has given us a peek inside the new electric Hummer for the first time, confirming that the electric Hummer will come with a removable roof like the Jeep Wrangler or Gladiator.

GMC says the roof panels will be "easily removable" to "provide a unique open-air experience." The automaker hasn't provided any additional details, so it isn't clear if the removable roof will be a standard feature.

From the teaser photos, it looks like the electric Hummer will have four removable roof panels, and even a removable front T-bar that can be stored in the frunk for a full open-air driving experience. Like the Tesla Cybertruck, the electric Hummer will be powered by up to three electric motors.
