Time to become truly exclusive while still expanding sales.

Compared to Ferrari, it hasn't always been smooth sailing for Maserati. While Ferrari has had a glorious and consistent career in motorsport and road cars, Maserati, well, hasn't. The Italian automaker has certainly had its share of ups and downs over the decades. Ferrari has always been strong, both on the track and in the showroom. But Maserati has now gotten its act together and is building gorgeous new models such as the Ghibli and Quattroporte.

Maserati

It has, finally, become a true Italian-made BMW/Mercedes/Audi fighter. And to keep its exclusivity intact while still looking to expand sales, word is coming out that Maserati is planning to cap overall production to 75,000 vehicles a year by 2018. As it stands now, Maserati will meet its 50,000 unit sales goal next year. A division of Fiat S.p.A, Maserati will soon launch what will surely play significant roles in its sales growth: its first ever SUV and the Alfieri coupe, based on the gorgeous concept. At the moment, the cheapest model in the lineup is the $66,900 Ghibli. Also by 2018, Maserati plans to more than triple its revenue to $8.2 billion.
