Hollywood's Most Famous Cars Are Going On Display

There's only one place to show off amazing cars like these.

Thanks to Hollywood, cars have become as famous as, if not more so than, the actual actors they play alongside in movies and television shows. TheDeLorean DMC-12fromBack to the Future, or theDodge Chargervariants from numerousFast & Furiousfilms are just a few examples of how big a role cars play in American pop culture. To celebrate these four-wheeled celebrities, the Petersen Automotive Museum will be hosting a massive display of some of Hollywood's most famous TV and movie cars, with cars from movies such asGhostbusters,Batman, andMen in Blackamong those making an appearance. Witha number of impressive exhibitscurrently on display at the museum, the Petersen is the perfect setting for these film stars.

The new show is a continuation of the "Hollywood Dream Machines: Vehicles of Science Fiction and Fantasy" exhibit which was the largest museum exhibition of sci-fi cars ever. The new exhibition will be located at the Omaze Hollywood Gallery on The Otis Booth History Floor and promises to be the best collection of automotive movie Americana ever to be put on display.

"Some vehicles used in television and movies have become just as popular as the stars themselves," said museum Executive Director Terry L. Karges. "We are excited to display what are genuinely some of the most iconic vehicles from Hollywood's long and storied history of film and television series production. The unique collection is sure to appeal to fans of movies and television along with any automotive enthusiasts."

Some of the main attractions include the1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor "Ecto-1"which was the rapid response vehicle of the famous Ghostbusters. The car has been updated throughout theGhostbustersseries but will be displayed in its original state from 1984. The 1981 DeLorean fromBack to the Futureis a prerequisite for any Hollywood movie car display, as is the Batmobile from the famous Batman film legacy, including theBatman Returnscar. Vehicles like the 1976 Ford Gran Torino fromStarsky and Hutchwill also be on display. What appears to be theLexus LCfromBlack Pantheris also headed to the exhibit. The show goes public on 12 March 2022 and tickets can be purchased on the Petersen Museum website.
