Gymkhana 11 Is Coming Without Ken Block

This marks the first time ever that Ken Block won't be at the wheel.

After the exciting, epic, wonderfully shot car film that wasGymkhana 10, the tenth installment in Ken Block's viral YouTube series, car fans the world over were left wondering where the series could possibly go next. It's not exactly easy to top "the ultimate tire slaying tour," which took place with five different vehicles in five locations around the world.

This week, Hoonigan Racing Division provided a glimpse of where things are headed, announcing that for the first time ever, Ken Block will be handing driving duties off to someone else for a Gymkhana video:Travis Pastrana.

Hoonigan Racing Division

The motocross legend served as Ken Block's teammate in the Rally America Championship back in 2004 - something that gave rise to "a 'friendly' rivalry on four wheels," as Ken Block puts it. They've been trying to outdo one another ever since, both in motorsport and in their respective entertainment ventures, Block with his Hoonigan Media Machine, and Pastrana with his show Nitro Circus.

"Ken and I spent the better part of the past two decades trying to one-up each other on pretty much everything," says Pastrana. "This is the opportunity of a lifetime - but they're also some big shoes to fill. It's equally as exciting as it is scary."

Gymkhana 11 will see the series return to its roots, in a sense, putting Pastrana behind the wheel of a斯巴鲁WRXlike some of Block's earliest Gymkhana work. Exactly which Subaru vehicle will have a starring role, and where the installment will be filmed, are still unknown. As part of the event, Hoonigan has partnered with Omaze to offer one lucky fan the chance to win a cameo, in support of nonprofit Team Rubicon.

While we're a bit apprehensive to see Block toss the keys to another driver for the eleventh Gymkhana installment, we'd say Travis Pastrana has earned the drive after putting together his own Gymkhana-style video with Can-Am ATVs driving around on two wheels and doing donuts around someone in a hot dog costume on a motorcycle with a sidecar. If you haven't yet seen that craziness, be sure to give it a watch here.
