Grass-Wrapped Nissan 350Z Takes Going Green To A New Level

But not in the way that makes eco-warriors soil themselves with excitement.

When it comes to the world of the aftermarket tuning and customization scene, the sky is the limit. One of the most popular Japanese tuner cars of its day was theNissan 350Z. The car has been boosted toincredible power levels, has been the skeleton beneath one of thebest-looking replica Porschesever, and achieved global fame as the star ofThe Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift, but one owner has made his stand out even among these kinds of conversions. Instead of increasing power or wrapping the car in a wild vinyl livery, one owner decided that a grassy look was the best thing he could do for the body of his car.

As you can see from the pictures, this isn't a printed wrap but rather the extraordinary application of AstroTurf, or artificial grass. The application is pretty neat, with symmetrical trimming and allowances for air intake and unobstructed headlights. There's some creativity at play here with grooves following the hood's creases and gaps in the fenders to show off the Z badge. The car also has some other touches, including an aftermarket front bumper, wheels, mirror caps, rear wing, and fender flares. These parts are left exposed too, but the whole look is still striking. Try losing this car in a mall parking lot.

So why wrap your car in fake grass? Well, the car first appeared on the Z Car Club Association's online forum where the owner, Nobuya Ushio, explained that he is a gardener, so this is clearly a great way of marketing his services and attracting attention from the public. While we are pretty confident that this kind of customization won't be a factory option forthe new Z car, we do hope that it is just as affordable and easy to modify. Perhaps Nissan's new sports car will be a star and attract attention everywhere too. If so, we can expect more wackiness from future Z owners.
