戈登Murray Automotive Keeping V12 As Long As Possible

戈登Murray is a legend in the auto industry. As the designer of McLaren's first-ever road car, the F1, Murray cemented his place in history, and he's showing no signs of slowing down. His latest creations are theT.50and the ultimate track machine, theT.50s Niki Lauda. Like the F1, both have a central driver's seat and a naturally aspirated V12. Anyone who bought aMcLaren Speedtailthinking it was the true F1 spiritual successor has since been proven wrong.

As McLaren and other mainstream supercar and hypercar companies race towards electrification, Gordon Murray Automotive is marching at its own pace. It has confirmed it has no plans to abandon the V12 engine anytime soon.

"We will continue to create the pinnacle of driver's cars - with V12 petrol power as long as the regulations allow and in the future we will develop our own hybrid and electric powertrains," the British company said in a press release.

In the same announcement, GMA detailed a number of expansion plans, including a $424 million investment in its current operations, adding talent to its leadership team, and the creation of a new subdivision: Gordon Murray Electronics. This new division will design and engineer "advanced innovative electric vehicles."

This doesn't mean GMA is about to launch an all-electric hypercar (although we wouldn't be opposed to that). Instead, it will become a top EV supplier of advanced systems to other brands, much in the way Rimac is very successfully doing.

Work is already underway on a "revolutionary, lightweight, ultra-efficient electric vehicle architecture" that will serve as the basis for future urban passenger vehicles and delivery vans.

"This significant investment in Gordon Murray Design and the formation of Gordon Murray Electronics will be realizing that goal. We're thrilled GMA has managed to find the ideal balance of advancing new technologies and refining to perfection existing ones. There's no telling how much longer regulations will allow V12s to remain, but GMA will stick with it until the very end.
