GM reveals its at-home energy management solution, available even if you don't own an EV.

General Motors (GM) has introduced three Ultium Home bundles that aim to utilize the vehicle-to-home (V2H) bidirectional charging technology of its compatible electric vehicles, such as theChevrolet Silverado.

Through GM Energy, Ultium Home offers V2H bidirectional charging, stationary storage, and energy management solution, similar to Tesla'sPowerwall. The three bundle options revealed by GM Energy's Ultium Home are V2H Bundle, Energy System Bundle, and Energy Storage Bundle.

最后一点,能量存储包, piqued our interest as it offers customers a secondary energy source at home even if they don't own an electric vehicle (EV). It comes with GM's PowerBank, which stores energy as to how power banks for mobile phones work, and it is available in 5 kW/10.6 kWh and 7 kW/17.7 kWh variants.

The energy stored in the PowerBank can be used should electricity from the grid is unavailable, which functions like a modern generator set. It also includes an inverter and a home hub that optimizes energy distribution when power from the grid is out.

The V2H Bundle, on the other hand, allows owners with compatible GM EVs to utilize the V2H bidirectional charging technology. This is made possible via the V2H Enablement Kit, which includes an inverter, a home hub, and a dark start battery. GM said the kit safely disconnects the home from the grid while providing up to 9.6 kW of discharge power.

This bundle also has GM's PowerShift Charger which offers up to 19.2 kW AC charging speed, an initiative that goes in line with the American automaker's plan tofurther expand EV charging access.

Meanwhile, Ultium Home's Energy System Bundle is meant to offer V2H functionality by adding stationary storage, which is the PowerBank. GM's PowerBank or stationary storage can also connect to the V2H Enablement Kit to extend the backup capability when electricity from the grid is out.

GM is also giving the option to integrate each of the Ultium Home products with solar power, similar to the concept behind the Hyundai Home. The installation of solar panels will be done by SunPower, GM Energy's exclusive solar provider.

Each Ultium Home product or bundle will be connected to the GM Energy Cloud, a software platform that allows customers to manage energy transfer remotely. The American automaker has yet to announce the pricing and availability of the Ultium Home products.
