Get Ready For The Fastest Mini Ever Made

TheJohn Cooper Works GPrepresents the lightest most hardcore version of the Mini Cooper. Minis are always fun to drive, but the John Cooper Works GP takes it to the next level with more power and less weight. We've been looking forward to the new third-generation model for a long time now, but the wait is nearly over.

Mini has announced theall-new John Cooper Works GPwill make its world debut at the 2019 LA Auto Show on November 20. Put simply, the new model will be the fastest and most powerful road-going Mini ever made in the company's 60-year history with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 301 hp. This enabled the new John Cooper Works to lap the Nurburgring in less than eight minutes and 23 seconds faster than the last-generation model.

While the new John Cooper Works hasn't been unveiled yet, Mini has alreadyconfirmed the hot hatch will start at $44,900excluding the $850 destination and handling fee. Spy shots have shown the new John Cooper Works will be even more aggressive than the previous model thanks to a new grille, deeper front splitter, wider fenders, larger wheels, and a huge rear wing, while bigger brakes and retuned suspension will make it more track-focused.

Joining the new John Cooper Works GP at the show will be the new electricMini Cooper SE, which will make its North American debut. Starting at $29,900, Mini's first-ever EV is powered by an electric motor producing 181 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque and has an estimated driving range of 146 to 168 miles on the European WLTP test cycle. Disappointingly, the range is expected to be around 114 miles on the US EPA cycle.
