Formula E Drivetrain Gets Broken Down, it's an Electric Car With Radiators

A carbon fiber battery enclosure too, not gonna find that in a Leaf.

Electric car racing is still pretty definitely in its infancy. This, combined with the fact that the cars sound like vacuum cleaners, is a big part of why Formula E is being largely ignored by a majority of motorsports fans. But the cars involved are more than just formula-shaped Nissan Leafs, even if this video is put out by the company that makes the Leaf. It breaks down the Formula E drivetrain, and what it takes to make an electric car go fast.

The car obviously has more in common with a Leaf than it does to other Formula race cars, but it's important to note that electric drivertrains are starting to evolve to suit different purposes.
