Ford Racing Reveals Mustang GT King Cobra

It's only a concept (for now), but you can still build your own.

Built entirely from off-the-shelf Ford Racing performance parts is one very unique 2015 Mustang GT. Called the "King Cobra," Ford has just revealed this one-off concept at this year's SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Heck, even "The King" himself, Richard Petty, was on hand for the official presentation. Built to be a high-performance street-and-drag strip car, Ford claims the King Cobra can be replicated by any Mustang owner who buys the necessary parts from the parts catalog.

It's equipped with Ford Racing's Drag Pack, Handling Pack, and Super Pack supercharger kit. The latter contains a 2.3-liter supercharger assembly co-developed and co-branded by Ford Racing and Roush Performance which allows the car to produce more than 600 horsepower.

There's also a six-rib belt drive system, intake manifold, electronic throttle body, air inlet system, fuel rail and high-flow fuel injectors, complete air-to-liquid intercooler system and Ford Racing performance computer calibration. The automaker has already tested the King Cobra package at its Milan Dragway in Michigan. It did a quarter-mile elapsed time of 10.97 seconds.
