"You see honey, this is why we need a truck!"

On what should have been the happiest day of their lives so far, a young couple's wedding reception experienced a power outage. Their family and closest friends were all there for the big day but no one could do anything about the power loss. Everything went dark following a severe thunderstorm that struck the Detroit, Michigan area.

The groom, 31-year-old Vetrivel Chandrasekaran, was also at a loss about what to do, when suddenly a buddy made a suggestion that saved the day. "And this friend, said, 'Yo. I have an F-150. I can just plug it in.' I said, 'Wait, that could really work,'" Chandrasekaran told the Detroit Free Press.

ThatFord F-150just so happened to be the hybrid model and itsPro Power Onboardsystem brought the party back. It also didn't hurt that its owner works for Ford as a mechanical engineer. Even Ford CEO Jim Farley was touched by what happened by posting a fun video of guests having fun on Twitter.

"It was amazing," said bride Rachna Nanda Kumar, 26, a data scientist from Tulsa, Oklahoma. "Everybody was just getting into their groove and, with the help of the F-150, the party lasted until 2 a.m. or 3 a.m." Thetruck's onboard generatorhas saved the day before. In fact, it may have even saved a few lives.

Last winter, an unexpected and severe snowstorm struck vast parts of Texas, a state not exactly familiar with harsh winters. Vast chunks of the Lone Star state's electrical grid were fried and people lacked electricity to stay warm. Enter the F-150 hybrid. It was the first time the truck was able to demonstrate the generator's vast capabilities. Itmade headlines around the world. The truck is now the hero once again.

Funnily enough, fellow engineers attending the wedding who saw the F-150 in action work for Ford's biggest two truck rivals, Chevy and Ram. Their experience must have been a mixture of admiration and jealously.

Chandrasekaran and his wife are not truck people, or even Ford customers, for the record, as he drives a Cadillac ATS-V and she drives a Nissan Sentra.
