Fiat 500 Turbo Will Now Be Offered With a Slushbox

For those who don't want to row their own gears.

When the base Fiat 500 has too little power and the 500 Abarth has too much, there's the 500 Turbo. Rated at 135 hp, the Turbo has been on sale in the US for a couple years now, but only with a five-speed manual. And for those who don't know how to row their own gears, this means the Turbo is off-limits. Until now, that is. Fiat has just announced that, along with several updates to the 500 range, a six-speed automatic transmission will now be offered.

It'll also be optional on both the 500 Abarth and 500 Abarth Cabrio. Other updates to the entire 500 range will include a redesigned instrument cluster that features a new 7-inch high-def instrument display that shows the car's speed, fuel level, distance traveled, gas mileage and range. There's also a parking screen for models equipped with Rear Park Assist. Finally, a restyled center console with new color options has also been added. We'll have complete details later this month from New York.
