Ferrari's Purosangue SUV Has Been Spotted Again

Video /4 Comments

Development continues, but we should see less camouflage soon.

TheFerrari Purosangue, the Maranello marque's first SUV, has been undergoing development for some time now. In the past, it hasworn the body of the Maserati Levantein an effort to disguise its true origins, but a few weeks ago, we saw it wearing itsproduction body for the first time. Development must be ramping up now, as a new video shows it cruising public roads in unsightly canvas garb. As engineers test the car more and more, we learn new things, but one thing we still don't know is what engine will be under that hood.

年代peculation has seen some suggest that the SUV could get the twin-turbo V6 from the 296 GTB while others have put forward the idea of a boosted V8 like that of the F8 Tributo. A V12 has been suggested too, but this seems unlikely considering the ever-tightening emissions regulations that are always a part of the decision-making process. Whatever motivates the new SUV, a dual-clutch automatic is likely to manage shifts as power goes to all four wheels, but since this is a Ferrari, expect it to handle far better than its mainstream rivals like the Lamborghini Urus and Bentley Bentayga.

We've already been given a taste of what to expect it to drive like thanks to atrack testing sessioncaught on video early this year. In the clip, the Ferrari Purosangue prototype is seen powersliding around a corner, which means that we can expect a rear bias in the way that its performance is delivered. As for the actual figures, as much as 800 horsepower is rumored, but we still have a long wait before anything can be confirmed. The SUV is likely to only arrive in 2024, but rest assured that we'll bring you all we learn between now and then.
