Dodge Challenger With A Viper V10 Is Mopar Perfection

For Sale /22 Comments

Forget a Hellcat V8 - this Challenger gains motivation from the wildest engine Dodge ever made.

Dodge created a fitting send-off for the Challenger in the form of theSRT Demon 170, but if this 1,025-horsepower behemoth isn't extreme enough for you, we've found just the solution: a Challenger with a Viper-sourced V10anda manual transmission.

This mad creation is currently for sale onBring A Trailer. Based on an SXT derivative, this Challenger once sported the familiar 3.6-liter V6. In 2016, a company called the Prefix Corporation was tasked with shoehorning the Viper's mighty 8.4-liter V10 into the muscle car, creating what can only be described as the ultimate Challenger.

During the engine swap, the shop also carried out several other jobs, which included replacing the thermostat, radiator, and temperature gauge. Updated power steering was also fitted.

卖方未提到的数字。The 8.4-liter V10 was fitted to the ZB II (2008-2010) and the VX (2013-2017). In the older model, the engine produced 600 horsepower, whilethe final iterationreceived as much as 640 hp. Either way, this Challenger should prove to be quite a handful, albeit a fun one. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Tremec six-speed manual transmission.

To reign in all those horses, the vehicle also received upgraded brakes and suspension. Plenty of stopping power comes courtesy of the Wilwood big-brake kit and slotted and cross-drilled rotors at all four corners. The calipers have been painted red for a racy touch. The suspension also features adjustable coilovers.

In an attempt to beef up the styling, the Challenger has been fitted with a Hellcat-style hood and bumper add-ons, along with a front splitter replete with stabilizer bars, canards, and a new grille. At the back, you'll find a decklid spoiler which looks good, but this sits at odds with the tacked-on aftermarket wing.

The rear fascia has been modernized with newer taillights and sporty quad exhaust tips. Viper badges on the hood are a subtle nod to the menacing engine that lives beneath it. If it were our Challenger, we'd take all the aftermarket bits off, return it to "rental car" spec, and just shock passers-by with the seemingly innocuous V10 Challenger.

It's not perfect, though. While the odometer shows just over 7,000 miles, the true mileage is unknown. However, the Carfax report notes the vehicle covered 192,000 miles when last checked in 2022.

It's worth noting that the air-conditioning system has also been disconnected, which should make it a bit of a struggle to drive on hot summer days. Hopefully, reconnecting the climate control won't be too much of a problem.

If you're interested, here's what you need to know. At the time of writing, there are still two days to go before the auction comes to a close. The current bid stands at $25,000, which is a bargain considering what a unique project this is. Yes, it's old, and yes, it's not perfect.

But as a project car and something to have a bit of fun with, it's unmatched. Also, when you consider that a 2023 Challenger starts at $31,100, you realize this Viper-powered Challenger offers plenty of bang for your buck.
