Chrysler 300-Based Lancia Sedan Set for Geneva Debut

一个report from Automotive News is claiming that Lancia is planning to unveil asedanthat's based on the new Chrysler 300 for the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Tentatively named the Thema, it'll likely debut alongside the upcoming five-door Ypsilon at the show in March. Specific details are still unknown, but a project like this makes sense for both Chrysler and Lancia, which is also owned by Fiat.

Fiat specifically bought their stake in Chrysler so that they could not only have access to the North American market, but to also benefit from Chrysler's numerous platforms, some of which were developed during the Daimler-Chrysler era. According to the report, Lancia has modest sales expectations for the new Thema sedan, hoping to sell between 10,000 to 15,000 units per year. The last time Lancia built a large Thema sedan was from 1984 to 1994. It sold fairly well, but that car's successors, namely the Thesis did much worse, selling only 16,000 units between 2002-2009.
