Ferrari is still using Maserati Levante test mules to disguise the Purosangue.

的想法Ferrari building a super SUV(or a Ferrari Utility Vehicle 'FUV' as Ferrari calls it) would have been unthinkable a few years ago, but this will soon be a reality when thePurosanguegoes on sale next year. As Ferrari continues fine-tuning its first SUV, a camouflaged Purosangue prototype has been caught in the wild.

Video footage shared by walkoARTvideos shows the Purosangue cruising with traffic on the streets of Germany before merging onto a highway. Unfortunately, we only get to see the prototype from behind, but Ferrari appears to still beusing Maserati Levante test mulesjudging from the taillights. However, it's clearly been modified because it rides much lower to the ground than the regular Maserati Levante and sports flared fenders.

Since our last sighting, the exhaust has been repositioned and features quad tailpipes that hint at the Purosangue's performance prowess. Ferrari's first-ever SUV is expected to ride on the same front-engine platform as the Roma. As for powertrains, Ferrari has confirmed the Purosangue will be offered with "multiple powertrains with highest specific power output plus electric motor."

Sources suggest the Purosangue launch model will be powered by an 800-horsepower V12, with an electrified V8 variant joining the lineup later. With electrical assistance, the V8-powered Purosangue will reportedly produce over 700 hp, making it more powerful than the 641-hp Lamborghini Urus.

With Ferrari planning to reveal the Purosangue next year, it shouldn't be too long before the Italian automaker starts testing prototypes with production bodies. After that, Ferrari is plotting two fully electric versions, with the first reportedly coming in 2024.

It's inevitably going to be polarizing, but the Purosangue will help Ferrari appeal to a wider demographic and boost the company's sales significantly - just look at the recent success of the Aston Martin DBX, which now makes upmore than half of the brand's total sales.
