Bugatti Begins Bespoke Program With Handpainted Chiron Pur Sport Grand Prix

The custom creation is the first from Bugatti's official customization program.

If you've just spent $3 million on a new hypercar like aBugatti Chiron, chances are that you have a few bucks laying around. Bugatti doesn't want that money to sit in your pockets, and neither do most Bugatti owners. Instead, they want to stand out even in the exclusive circles that they socialize, so many buyers commission custom creations.Manny Khoshbin's Hermes creationis a good example, but if you have no interest in the work of a fashion house, Bugatti itself can build you something special. We saw a one-off called theChiron Zebraa couple of years back, and thenone called Alice, and the people who had these built are not exceptions. In fact, Bugatti gets so many requests for custom color combinations and finishes that it has decided to open its own customization program, and the first car to come from this is a retro masterpiece.

布加迪调用自定义项目"Sur Mesure", French for tailored. Sur Mesure "builds upon the marque's distinguished history of coachbuilding, handcrafted interiors, paint finishes, embroidery, and bodywork," and that is evidenced on the new creation based on theChiron Pur Sport. Inspired by the Bugatti Type 51 that Louis Chiron piloted with Achille Varzi to a legendary win at the French Grand Prix in 1931, this special model wears the same stylized race number of 32. This is painted onto the car entirely by hand, and the attention-grabbing hypercar is made all the more breathtaking by a pair of new colors created to pay homage to the Grand Prix racing Bugattis of the '20s and '30s. The contrast between the new burgundy and blue shades is especially stunning because of the new fading 'EB' painted pattern that was also applied by hand using the same method we saw on theDivo Lady Bug.

Inside, more '32' and 'Grand Prix' motifs can be found in the special center console inlay finished in black anodized aluminum with its silver handpainted inscription, as well as in the door sills, headrests, and entry lights. Unfortunately, there's no word on how much the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport 'Grand Prix' costs, but with this being an homage to racing cars of the early 20th century, we suspect that the owner is someone with taste, class, and heritage that speaks of generational wealth. That's quite a broad assumption, but whoever it was certainly wasn't scraping pennies together to pay for this build. Now that Sur Mesure has been properly launched, we're pretty sure that uniquely painted and specially upholstered Bugattis will become more common, relatively speaking. We're not complaining though, and we hope the next bespoke Bugatti is just as gorgeous.
