This is how the Cochise County Sheriff spent its grant money for drug education.

An Arizona Sheriff's office has taken delivery of aDodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeyewith custom graphics. However, it'snot destined for traffic duty。2022年的模型是通过买的ugh a grant to be used for "drug education, outreach, and drug enforcement activities, with the primary focus being drug outreach education."

It comes wearingF8 green paintwith tan graphics to match Cochise County Sheriff's uniform colors. Currently, decent examples are going for around $80-90,000.

"This is another step we are taking as a starter for positive communication between our communities and law enforcement. This project was an innovative effort to share what we do in law enforcement, to get kids engaged, and bring attention to the 'cool' side of the Sheriff's Office."

We see quite a lot wrong with all this, starting with the fact that if you have to market yourself as cool to kids, then you're not cool.

The graphics are all Sheriff department badging except for one small sticker on the trunk saying "Seek Opportunities - Not Drugs." A small message tucked away that's sure to inspire the few kids that notice it to leave drugs alone with the same success as theJust Say Nocampaign of the 1980s and 1990s.

If you're in the area, expect to see the car around as it goes about its business of drawing in kids at community events, schools, and career fairs to educate them on the dangers of drug use.

The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye features a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 making 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque, and the irony that it's a level of power you can't legally use the entirety of on a public road and born out ofillegal street racingin the 1960s is not lost on us. We do like the weed-green color, though.

The irony ofcops buying muscle carsis, apparently, lost on the Cochise County Sheriff, though, and looks suspiciously like someone just wanted a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye as a company car.

Residents of the area commenting on the Facebook post announcing the car aren't too impressed.

"Very cool car, just not impressed when we need so much down here in this county that is in desperate need of improvements," says one resident.

"How does buying a fast expensive car make the sheriff's office cool and how does it educate kids of the dangers of illegal drugs? That money could have been spent on educational materials to inform kids of the dangers of illegal drugs," points out another.

"Yep, that's how you get votes for the tax increase," says a third about the acquisition of the gas-guzzling muscle car.
