No, not 300 mph, 300 miles on a charge.

We finally know how far the all-electric2024 Kia EV9will go on a charge, at least in its most efficient guise. Kia just revealed new specifications for the US-market EV9, including trims, motor configurations, and more. At launch, the EV9 will be available in four trim levels: Light, Wind, Land, and GT-Line. There will also be two battery sizes measuring 76.1 and 99.8 kWh, though it is not specified if certain trims will be locked to one battery or the other. Buyers have a choice of a single electric motor driving the rear wheels or a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup.

The standard battery includes a 215 horsepower electric motor, while the larger battery actually dials the output back to 201 hp, likely to improve range. Kia says it's targeting a 300-mile range for the single-motor, large-battery EV9. No other range estimates were provided, so it's unclear how far the dual-motormodel with 379 hpwill go on a charge. We do know it will hit 60 mph in under five seconds compared to 8.2 and 9.2 seconds in the RWD small and large battery models, respectively.

When it's time to recharge, the standard 800-volt electrical architecture will enable a max DC charging speed of 236 kW. That should allow the EV9 to go from 10% to 80% battery in just 25 minutes. Kia doesn't mention a charge time when using the 11 kW onboard system, but a full battery will likely be possible in an overnight charging session. Using its Integrated Charging Control Unit, the EV9 can even return energy back to the grid or power an owner's home during a blackout.

Kia also revealed some important interior measurements, which we can compare to the gas-powered Telluride. 32 inches of legroom in the third row bests the Telluride by over half an inch, while 42.8 inches in the second row is just under half an inch more than Telluride.

Regarding cargo space, the EV9 is slightly less roomy than its gas-powered counterpart. It offers 20.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, 43.5 cubes behind the second row, and 81.7 cubes with both rows folded. There is also a small frunk with 3.2 cubic feet of space.

No pricing information was given, meaning we will have to wait until closer to the EV9's launch, which will take place later this year in Q4 2023. A reservation program will be announced soon for interested buyers. This will be thefirst Software Defined Vehiclefrom Kia, meaning the car can receive over-the-air updates to update crucial functions. Other important available features include Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, Digital Key 2, Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, and plenty of advance driver assist features. Sadly, those coolswivel seats are not coming to the US.

Expect to hear more details in the coming months as we get closer to the on-sale date.
