2024 Genesis G70 With 300-HP Four-Pot Confirmed For USA

The2024 Genesis G70has officially been announced for the US market, several months after theupdated model was revealed in South Korea.

For now, at least, the G70 appears to be safe from thesame axe that killed the Kia Stinger. Obviously, the big news for 2024 is a new 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood of the base model, replacing the outgoing 2.0-liter unit. The outputs have increased from 252 horsepower and 260 lb-ft to 300 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. Those are gains of 48 hp and 51 lb-ft of torque, respectively.

The 2.5-liter engine is the same unit that Kia put in the facelifted Stinger when it was upgraded for the 2021 model year. Along with the bigger engine, all G70 models will now ship with standard high-performance Brembo brakes.

The 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine is carried over with no changes. That means you can expect 365 hp and 376 lb-ft. Neither the Stinger nor the G70 received the newer 3.5-liter engine from the G80 and GV80. The power goes to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, regardless of which engine you select.

Genesis made minimal updates to the G70's exterior for 2024. These minor updates include a new emblem with an engraved Guilloche pattern. The new Genesis logo has "repetitive decorative patterns intricately engraved by a precise mechanism, found in luxury watches."

There are also two new exterior colors: Vatna Gray and Kawah Blue. The former was inspired by Iceland, and the latter (pictured here) by Indonesia. Though the US press release doesn't mention them, the Korean version said new 18- and 19-inch wheels.
