2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid Fuel Economy Is Extremely Impressive

For the first time ever, there is now a hybrid version of theFord F-150. The Blue Oval calls it thePowerBoost hybridand despite its green-friendly powertrain consisting of a 3.5-liter hybrid V6, it still produces an impressive430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque. But how does this translate to overall fuel economy?

Today, thanks to a tip from the folks at F150Gen14.com, we have our answer. The EPA has just revealed its official data and, needless to say, we're impressed by the numbers. The 2021 F-150 Hybrid receives a 24 mpg overall fuel economy - for city, highway, and combined. In fact, the new hybrid beats last year's F-150 diesel rating, which earned a 21/29 mpg city/highway.

The EPA has yet to release data for the redesigned oil burner. Another thing to remember is that the 2020 diesel model is less powerful than the new hybrid, producing 250 hp and 440 lb-ft. The 3.0-liter PowerStroke turbo-diesel V6 is carried over from last year, so don't expect much to change.

If you still can't decide between the diesel or the hybrid, one possible deciding factor is that gasoline is typically less expensive than diesel. Plus, the new hybrid powertrain is available on every 2021 model trim level, assuming buyers opt for the SuperCrew body style. Even on the base XL, the hybrid is only a $4,495 option.
