2015 Outback Will Debut in New York

Based on the newly-unveiled Legacy.

一个fter Subaru's successful yet somewhat-underwhelming unveiling of the 2015 Legacy at the Chicago Auto Show, Car & Driver now says the next Outback will be launched at the upcoming New York Auto Show in April. Other than what we know from the Legacy sedan, details are still obscure regarding the off-road-capable, all-wheel drive wagon. We did spot a heavily-camouflaged test version last July, flaunting a steeply sweeping windshield and what seems to be a front fascia similar to that of the Legacy.

The Outback is expected to be offered with a choice of familiar engines, i.e. Subaru's 2.5-liter on the entry model and a six-cylinder DOHC 3.6 liter upgrade on the R Limited model. Both versions will be equipped with continuously variable transmissions, as well as Subaru's new EyeSight lane-keeping system. Last summer, our spies noted that the car was being tested against upmarket competitors, like the Audi Allroad, so we expect this new Outback to attempt to move up in the world, probably by offering high-end trim levels for its price range.
