1969 Chevy Camaro Transformed Into 865-HP Track Car

TheChevrolet Camarohas undergone some controversial styling changes this generation. For the 2019 model year, the muscle car was given a divisive facelift with a revised front end that was swiftly reverted for the 2020 model year. Alternatively, there are plenty of Camaro restomods and replicas available combining the classic styling of the original 1960s muscle car with modern mechanical upgrades.

Swedish design company Bo Zolland Design has presented its unique take on the classic 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, which has been reimagined as a GT3-style track car. This has to be one of the coolest Camaro design projects we've seen in a long time.

Beneath the skin, the project is based on aChevrolet Corvette ZR1C7 chassis with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 LT5 engine under the hood. In the Corvette ZR1, this unit produces 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque, but Bo Zolland Design has cranked up the power to 865 hp.

Like the Corvette ZR1, this Camaro track racer sends all that power through a seven-speed manual transmission. Most of the components were borrowed from the Corvette donor car, but some components such as the brakes and bushings have been upgraded. A full rollcage was also installed.
