1,500-HP Dodge Charger Makes Challenger Demon Look Tame

Speedkore twin-turbocharges sedan to produce over 1,500 horsepower.

Just about every engine you can get in theDodge Challengeryou can get in the four-doorCharger, too – but not theDemon. That was restricted to the two-door muscle coupe. But that evidently didn't sit well with the power-obsessed tuners at SpeedKore, so they developed this muscle sedan on their own, and took it far beyond anything Mopar has done in-house.

Unveiled at SEMA this week, theSpeedKore Demonis based on a 2019 Dodge Charger Pursuit police cruiser, but it's much more powerful than anything you'd find in a law enforcement agency's motor pool.

At its heart sits a 6.2-liter Hemi V8, but instead of a supercharger like the one found in the Hellcat or Demon, SpeedKore installed a pair of billet turbochargers and a host of other upgrades. The result is a massive 1,525 horsepower (measured at the crank), and SpeedKore thinks it can do more, having left the engine dialed in with "only" 26 pounds of boost.

However much muscle the engine is ultimately capable of producing, it's not left to the rear wheels alone to handle. It's transmitted through a Hellraise Performance gearbox to all four corners – something you can't get from the factory with anything more than the Pentastar V6.

Around those (suffice it to say) rather impressive powertrain and drivetrain components, SpeedKore made use of its considerable expertise in carbon-fiber manufacturing to create an even broader than stock widebody that leaves it looking more sinister than any Charger (or most anything else we've ever seen). And what's more is that it's not just going to sit on a show stage (at SEMA or anywhere else). This project was commissioned by a private customer to celebrate his brother's 65th birthday, and we hope it will be driven as it's intended – which is, to say, with a lead foot, but hopefully some responsible trepidation as well.
